“Australian IT security company ERACOM has released a Linux
version of its CSA7000 encryption adapter and development
libraries. This release by ERACOM is intended to enable
development of security applications where encryption processing
and storage of cryptographic keys in hardware is critical to
ensuring the integrity of security applications.

“Historically ERACOM has focused on the banking and finance
industries where its Security Modules (ESMs) are installed for
processing ATM and EFTPOS transactions. The CSA7000 is a derivative
of the ESM’s technology in terms of encryption processing
functionality.”

“The move by ERACOM to make available its CSA7000 adapter board
and software development libraries acknowledges growing concerns by
various industries that information and financial transactions
across the internet, intranets and extranets, are vulnerable to
hackers. Adoption of the Linux platform coincides with the surge of
interest in the OS and its expected growth as the platform of
choice for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) applications.”
