“Based on XML and Linux technology and operating on a
distributed server network, the PlaceLinks system allows
advertising content to be syndicated to other online directories
and linked to m-commerce applications.”

“Shoppers in Eastern Massachusetts using the Internet to find
local bricks-and-mortar businesses, will soon have a new resource
to help them find the exact brands, products and services they are
looking to buy. PlaceLinks, Inc., a provider of local online
advertising and promotional systems, has developed a 160-town
yellow pages and promotions directory for TownOnline.com, the web
site of Community Newspaper Company (CNC). The PlaceLinks’ powered
local shopping directory will be available on TownOnline.com’s
expanded Marketplace as part of the site’s set of features
beginning next month.”

“The PlaceLinks’ Local Commerce Directory System(TM), which
replaces a national directory provider, supports CNC’s local
audiences online with a zoned system that allows advertisers to
more effectively target customers by specific geography, while
making it easier for consumers to search for local goods and
services. Using the self-service online ad manager, companies have
direct control over their own listings and promotions. They can
promote their products and services by name, and track impressions
and interest. Unlike national online yellow pages systems which
limit queries to company names or categories, the PlaceLinks system
allows users to search business listings and promotions by specific
brands, products, services, activities and street names.”
