“TurboLinux, Inc., the high-performance Linux company, today
announced that China’s largest sports Web site, Shawei.com, hosts
the Sydney 2000 Olympics webcast and all of its other content on a
high availability Internet site built around TurboLinux clustering,
caching, and load balancing software solutions powered by an Oracle
database on Compaq Proliant servers.”

“The China market is crazy for sports and the Internet is an
ideal medium in our vast country for delivering exciting global
events like the Olympics,” said C. C. Zhuang, vice president of
technology for Shawei.com. “As the biggest Olympics webcast in
China, we can’t afford our site to crash. TurboLinux gave us a
bullet-proof Web site infrastructure, including professional
services and onsite support, that guaranteed our customers won’t
miss a minute of the Olympics or any other sporting event they
follow at our site.”

“The Shawei.com Web site is hosted on 10 Compaq Proliant
servers with an Oracle database on the backend running on
TurboLinux Data Server for Oracle 8i. TurboCluster Server is used
to provide load balancing and performance boosts for the clustered
Apache Web servers and cache servers.”
