“…this week we’ll look at Microsoft moving to Canada,
Gateway’s (NYSE: GTW) and AOL’s (NYSE: AOL) new alliance, BakBone
Software’s (TSE: BKB) inclusion in some important stock indices,
and much more.”

“Gateway (NYSE: GTW) and AOL (NYSE: AOL) announced an alliance
to build Internet appliances that would use a Transmeta processor
and Mobile Linux. In a move that many are heralding as a chip in
the Wintel duopoly, two of the largest technology companies in the
world are moving to these new technologies and many more are
expected to follow. Chalk up another win for Linux.”

“The record for the strangest story of the week was reported by
the BBC on Friday. The news service reported that Microsoft (NASD:
MSFT) could be in talks with the British Columbia provincial
government to move the company lock, stock and barrel to avoid a
potential break-up. Obviously, Microsoft is denying such talks, and
the rumor is likely one more twist in a long and arduous
process.”
