“Installfest 2000 moved its way to Sydney on Saturday August 26.
The event was held at Maquarie University and organised by the
Sydney Linux Users Group, or SLUG. LinuxWorld.com.au also came
along to offer support plus showcase various Linux distributions
and give away CD’s.”

The Installfest attracted approximately 150 people who
spanned a range of computing abilities, from beginner to
professional. Many other people came along without computers in
order to just learn what Linux is all about.
As for
installations and configurations, once the day got underway, no
less than 30 computers were there at any one time. The volunteers
that helped out as installers wore noticeable black LILO t-shirts
and were always willing to help. In total there were approximately
25 installers helping out.”
