“Have you ever daydreamed about being a movie producer? Or
sitting in the director’s chair and bringing it all together? I
have. In fact, one such dream has been simmering in the “one of
these days” corner of my brain for a couple of years. I want to
present my granddaughter with a video of me reading her selected
stories from A. A. Milne’s classic work ‘Winnie the Pooh.’

“Originally, the plan called for record the readings using my
Sony TRV36 Handycam, then use a pair of VCR’s to do the editing. An
ordinary home video project. One of the obstacles to executing that
plan has been the fact that I don’t have two VCRs. A recent story
(see Resources for a link) about video editing on Linux, however,
has me re-thinking the project. The question that had me going
‘think, think, think’ was whether or not I could toss the VCR
editing solution and do the assembly and editing on my Linux
desktop…”
