“A year is a long time in the fast-moving free software world.
In 2003, lawsuits were filed, major releases were made, companies
came and went, and, as always, the code got better. For the sixth
straight year, we at LWN have gone over the year’s news and picked
out the most significant events. The result, we hope, is a concise
but complete view of what happened in the Linux community over the
course of the year.
