M2 Pewsswire: Mentor Graphics Calibre physical verification tool supports Linux operating system

“Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced it has extended
its industry standard deep submicron (DSM) physical verification
and manufactuability tool — Calibre, to include support for Red
Hat Linux
, a leading open source operating system for
Intel-based workstations.”

“Mentor Graphics has worked closely with Red Hat, Inc. to ensure
that Calibre for Linux takes full advantage of the operating
systems capabilities. ‘We’re thrilled that Mentor Graphics now
offers Calibre, the industry standard for deep submicron physical
verification, for Linux-based operation systems,’ said Robert Hart,
director of technical alliances for Red Hat, Inc. ‘By working with
companies like Mentor to port EDA industry standard tools, we
ensure that IC engineers using Linux have access to leading-edge
tools.’nbsp;”

“Matt Gordon, director of industry marketing, Workstation
Products Group for Intel added, ‘We continue to see growing
popularity for Intel processors on the Linux OS within the
semiconductor design community. When you combine the verification
power of Calibre and its available multi-thread technology for
Linux with the pure processing power of Intel Pentium III Xeon
processors, IC designers have the speed, reliability and
scalability to verify the most complex IC designs.’ “
