Mandrakesoft Achieves LSB Certification.
The Mandrake Linux 9.0 ProSuite Edition has met the stringent 
requirements of Linux Standard Base (LSB) Certification. LSB 
Certification verifies adherence to community and industry developed 
standards for Linux distributions and Linux-based applications.

Now that Mandrake Linux 9.0 has been released, the Cooker is open once 
again and new packages are already being uploaded. Learn more about the

Mandrake in the News

Many stories this week about Mandrake Linux being used for the XBox:

After testing the four main Linux distributions, the XBox team chose 
Mandrake 9.0 because "Mandrake is very modern, provides a GPLed 3 CD 
download and runs with least modifications of all four (yes, we tested 
all of them)."

MSNBC.com -- Hacker group says it's done with OS version for console.
The new XBox version takes all the features of the PC version of 
Mandrake Linux 9-including the Gnome user interface, OpenOffice office 
software and the Mozilla Web browser-and adapts them to run on the 
Xbox. The software is available for download now.

Slashdot.org -- Xbox Receives Linux Mandrake 9.0.
"Today the Xbox Linux Project announced that Xbox Linux Mandrake 9 has 
been released. This is the first complete Linux distribution for the 
Microsoft Xbox gaming console. A 350 MB installation CD of Xbox Linux 
Mandrake 9 is available for download free of charge from the Xbox Linux 
website."

This popular ongoing survey has been updated for October 3, 2002; 
Mandrake Linux remains the most popular desktop Linux distribution.

9.0 Errata released.
The first few erratas for Mandrake Linux 9.0 have been posted. Any 
users who encounter problems installing or running 9.0 are encouraged 
to consult the errata page for helpful advice and workarounds.
