“As part of the legwork for our stories involving the Knoppix
Linux live CD and Live DVD, we gave the Knoppix 4.02 live Linux CD
a spin on a somewhat older laptop. It’s an HP OmniBook 6000 laptop
computer with a 128-MB RAM and 900-MHz Pentium III CPU. Three major
problems popped up:

  1. “the sound did not work,
  2. “it was slow, and
  3. “the Knoppix live CD tied up the only CD drive on the
    laptop…”
