“Ken Barber and I spent yesterday at the Capitol building
speaking with legislators about HB 2892. I am encouraged to report
to you that our visit was a success. “First, the bill is scheduled
for hearing before the General Government Committee on Thursday,
April 3rd. If there is general consensus, the committee will hold a
‘workshop’ to discuss the bill and if a majority ‘okay’s’ the bill,
they will send it on either to the House floor for a vote or to
another committee.

“Secondly, the bill moves to the Ways and Means committee.
Because this bill has the potential for having a major financial
impact on the State (read: saving them a truckload of money), the
Ways and Means committee will look at the bill from a fiscal
standpoint.

“Finally, if the bill passes the Ways and Means committee, it is
carried to the House floor for a vote. If it makes it to the floor
for a vote you can bet that I will be in the House chambers for
that and will keep you updated just as soon as the voting is
closed…”
