“The administrative office of Tokyo’s Meguro City has begun
operations of its new intranet system using Linux as the operating
system to link with Windows PCs.“The intranet system connects about 300 Windows PCs that are
used by the city’s employees.“‘We chose Linux due to our belief that it can reduce costs
substantially for creating an intranet system. Indeed, we were able
to save more than 5 million yen in the project,’ said a manager
