“One development in the Linux market that has helped the
operating system become more accepted in the enterprise is the
emergence of professional-level Linux support programs from Linux
distributors, such as Red Hat and Caldera, as well as some other
firms specializing solely in supporting Linux.”

“One such company, Mission Critical Linux (MCL), has
developed some interesting tools and services to help keep Linux
servers in large enterprises up and running.
Last fall, MCL
released its two core software products, Kernel Core Dump and Crash
Analyzer, for the Linux operating system. These two programs are
key components of MCL’s support services.”

“MCL also recently announced a partnership with Silicon Graphics
to provide a packaged support solution for SGI’s new lines of Linux
servers. The offering gives enterprises interested in Linux-powered
servers a unified source for hardware, software and support
resources.”
