“This time around, GNOME has taken an interesting step in
beautifying their desktop. The project held a contest during the
2.23 development cycle in which the community was encouraged to
submit custom desktop wallpaper for possible inclusion in 2.24. For
some reason, Ubuntu didn’t bother to include the winning wallpapers
as part of its latest CD image, but I found and downloaded them
myself, and found most of them are fantastic. The art contest
itself just goes to show how much better things get when you
include the community in your project.”
