“In the face of what Informix calls overwhelming demand for its
database product port to the Linux operating system, the firm on
Wednesday announced distribution channel alliances with Linux
distributors Red Hat Software and SuSE. The two Linux distributors
are considered the market leaders in the US and Europe,
respectively.”
“Informix says the move was sparked by growing user demand over
the past six months. The firm says it distributed more than 175,000
copies of the Linux database port during that period, a demand
level the firm called ‘overwhelming.’ Much of the demand occurred
during an end-of-year promotion, the firm said.”
