“Commercial Linux operating system distributor TurboLinux has
signed large bundling agreements with consumer electronics giant
Sanyo Electric and Dell Computer… in Japan.”

“Sanyo Electric will use TurboLinux as the base operating system
in 20,000 Newve medical workstation products it expects to ship to
hospitals and clinics over the next four years. The workstations
are replacing PA-RISC Hewlett-Packard workstations running HP
(UX).”

“IDC believes that this TurboLinux sale is the largest of its
kind in the world,” said Bill Peterson, research manager at
International Data Corporation (IDC). “IDC fully expects to see
more examples of this level of Linux installations over the course
of the next few years.”

“The second deal sees Dell Computer shipping its Precision
WorkStation series in Japan bundled exclusively with
TurboLinux.”
