“The Roxen licensing model is a bit unusual: It is neither
completely open source Latest News nor completely proprietary. The
core Roxen Web server is available under the GNU General Public
License, which means it is available to anyone who wants to
download and deploy a Roxen Web server.

“However, some components of the Roxen product are only
available under a proprietary license. In this way, the company
that makes Roxen can provide more value for an additional fee. The
company also sells Roxen CMS, which builds on the Roxen Web server
core and adds features. Walldén told NewsFactor that CMS
adds ‘version control, enterprise clusters and an integrated search
engine,’ among other features. CMS also features Web-based
authoring tools, with a point-and-click page editor that might make
life much easier for users who are not Web-savvy…”
