NewsForge: Red Hat works with UCITA backers to change law

Red Hat and the Open Source Initiative will likely
celebrate a UCITA victory this month, but the celebration will be
shared with backers of the Maryland software license law, not in
spite of them.

“Maryland Gov. Parris N. Glendening is expected to sign a bill
that exempts Open Source software from “mandatory warranties” found
in the state’s Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act, on
the urging of Red Hat and the Open Source Initiative.”
