“Open Networks 99 was arranged by DKUUG and SSLUG as a three day
conference on April 30th, May 1st and 2nd 1999.”

“The conference was about networks and open systems, like
GNU/Linux and FreeBSD. The leader of the KDE project, Kalle
Dalheimer, as well as the leader of the GNOME project, Miguel de
Icaza, were both speakers at the conference. GNOME and KDE are the
two free desktop environments for GNU/Linux systems and various
UNIX systems.”
