“In the middle of comments from my last review of gOS, I had one
person recommend I check out a new distro called Geubuntu. Well, as
I was in the middle of playing with this Enlightenment package,
named from its parent distro of Ubuntu, I saw a release stating
that the name now was OpenGEU. This name change seemed appropriate
in that I sincerely doubt anything from canonical would be as
interesting as this package.“So why the name change? In their posting, the leaders of the
distro stated, ‘Geubuntu had to change its name to OpenGEU because
of the trademark restrictions adopted by Canonical. This is because
for Canonical, only a ‘remix’ can have ‘buntu’ in its name without
violating any of Canonical’s trademarks…'”
