OpenIndiana 2017.04 represents a new major update to the “Hipster” series of the distribution, implementing various new features and updating several core components and applications. The most prominent change of this release being the integration of support for USB 3.0 devices. The OpenSolaris derived operating system now ships with an updated graphics stack based on the X.Org Server 1.18.4 display server and Mesa 13.0.6 3D Graphics Library, moves multiple user-space applications to the 64-bit architecture, and introduces a ca-certificates service to regenerate the CA (Certificate Authority) bundle as GnuTLS 3.4 becomes default TLS implementation.
