openSUSE Leap 42.1 Reached End of Life and Will No Longer Be Supported by SUSE

Launched on November 4, 2015, openSUSE Leap 42.1 was supported with security and software updates for more than 18 months. Hardcore openSUSE fans should know that openSUSE Leap 42.1 was the first hybrid release of the distribution to use packages from the SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) operating system and from the community of developers that are building packages for openSUSE Linux. Therefore, openSUSE Leap 42.1 made it possible to bridge the gap between matured and those newer packages that are found in the openSUSE Tumbleweed rolling operating system series. According to the SUSE Maintenance Security team, openSUSE Leap 42.1 received more than 1,500 updates, but it has been officially discontinued on May 17, 2017, and will no longer be supported by SUSE.
