“IBM has sure shed its stodgy image as a stalwart but boring
company. The company’s embrace of LINUX seems to have reinvigorated
the programmers and sales staff not seen since the early days of
OS/2.”

“In a peculiar way, I’m proud of IBM. It bled throughout the 80s
and the decade was a brutal time for the company when nothing went
right no matter what it did. Sure Microsoft aggravated the
situation but the IBM executives also deserve a high share of the
blame for real bone-headed decisions. Yet IBM hung in there and as
a reward for its tenacity, it’s making record profits.”

“…Yet, I’m plagued by a heterodoxic question: If IBM has
embraced LINUX with a fervor of the newly converted, how come
there’s no LOTUS Smart suite for LINUX? Better yet, if IBM really
wanted to show off its commitment to LINUX, it would bring back
LOTUS Magellan for LINUX.”
