“I am writing this column not to say no to GUIs but to discuss
why GUIs are not the answer to everything. I use a GUI for my Linux
desktop; I don’t know how I would get along without it.”
“I think it’s good to know what files are being changed, even if
you use a GUI. Especially in this day of multi distributions, the
chances that you will have the same GUI to tweak your machine are
distant. Well I am just hypothesizing that the various
distributions do not all come with the same GUI configuration
tools. Some may not even come with any, but again I only have used
Red Hat.”
