The future doesn’t lie with Microsoft’s newest operating system,
but rather with what most of us will be using in 18 months time:
Windows NT. I can hear cries from those of you using OS/2, Linux or
even good old MS-DOS.

… an Achilles heel for Linux… [is] hardware manufacturers
unwilling to make source code available for porting to Linux for
fear of giving away hardware secrets. By protecting hardware OEMs
and affording them a bigger market, hardware support under NT will
almost be as good as Windows 9x. It’ll take a long time for Linux
to catch up.
