“Forget the “open source” phenomenon. The latest round of Linux
news has less to do with its open source nature and more about
making the platform a stable enterprise alternative guided by
standards.”

“System vendors and Linux distributors including IBM and Caldera
Systems Inc. are set to support an independent Linux certification
process from KeyLabs Inc. that will be required for participating
system and software OEMs that want to sell Linux. The certification
will ensure that the products work with all commercial
distributions of Linux and will prevent a splintering of the
market, according to KeyLabs officials in Lindon, Utah.”
