coalescing around a standard for real-time Java.”

“A group of 20 companies led by IBM has been formed to develop a
real-time Java specification that will add critical capabilities to
the platform within embedded systems. The group, which will be
announced this week, plans to have a specification finished by the
end of the year, according to leader Greg Bollella, IBM’s head
engineer in real-time Java. A reference implementation of the
standard is scheduled for release in the first quarter of next
year.”
