PC Week: Linux’s shows 25% annual growth rate

“International Data Corp., of Framingham, Mass., this week
issued a report that shows Linux’s growth outpacing all other
client and server operating systems. The report, called Linux
Operating System Market Overview, predicts a compound annual growth
rate of 25 percent for the open source code OS, compared to 12
percent growth for other servers and 10 percent growth for client
operating systems.”

Since the kernel and applications are freely downloadable, tracking
actual installed base will be a knotty task…”
