“This week, representatives of Red Hat Software Inc. and
Microsoft (MSFT) joined Mindcraft in an open benchmark at PC Week
Labs in Foster City, Calif., working with PC Week Labs analysts to
test the two operating systems using the latest and greatest in
enterprise servers.

“Although the tests replicated part of the controversial
Mindcraft benchmark, they went one step further to address some of
the perceived limitations in that company’s benchmarking
methodology.”

“During the modified testing, which was still in progress at
press time, the results got really interesting.

“One of the modifications was to reduce the number of processors
used in the test server from four to one…” The results will be
made available on PC Week Online next week.”
