PC Week: Red Hat to expand beyond its own version of Linux

“Red Hat Inc. on Wednesday is expected to announce support for
products other than its own distribution of Linux.”

Specifically, the Durham, N.C., company will commit to
support users of the Apache Web server and Sendmail messaging
server, regardless of the Linux distribution they run on or whether
they run on Linux at all, according to sources close to the
company.

“Other open-source applications include the Gimp image
manipulation software, the Mozilla browser project, and the Gnome
and KDE graphical user interfaces.”
