Linux-based products with new partnerships and certifications.”

“On its own, IBM continues to take a leadership role in driving
standards and other developments important to Linux’s success in
the enterprise. The Armonk, N.Y., company last month became one of
the first server makers to have its hardware independently
certified for Linux by KeyLabs Inc.”

“In a short span, Linux has gone from a curiosity to a platform
exploding with more than 200 percent annual growth, according to
International Data Corp. A byproduct of that growth has been
backlash, whereby skeptics claim it’s not growing as much as hyped
and still has major shortcomings, such as lack of application
support and a nebulous development community.”

“The backlash has not held back vendors, however, which continue
to push partnerships and systems centered on Linux. Users as well
seem to be undeterred.”
