how it came to be, and whose idea it was? So, we present some
history for you so put this site in perspective.”
“In April of 2000, there was no central repository of good
information. LinuxPPC.org was there but was poorly maintained and
controlled by a distributor. The Faq-O-Matic was not up to date.
The mailing lists were the only good sources of info. Kevin
Hendricks finally called a spade a spade in this mail…”
“Things started rolling quickly once the list was created. For
some reason, Jeramy B. Smith volunteered his domain name
penguinppc.org for the project and gave up his own web site,
Grantham volunteered linuxmac.net, Kevyn Shortell volunteered
ppclinux.org, and Jeff Carr volunteered linuxppc.org. Things were
looking better every minute. Grantham started working on the design
while Hollis Blanchard of LinuxPPC Inc. and Jeramy started rolling
content. People who did not have the time to commit to editing
content or working on design issues still were available to give
wise advice: Brad Midgeley, Olaf Hering, Kevin Hendricks, David
Gatwood, Chuq Raspaq, et. al.”
