“Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open
source solutions, today announced that the PGA TOUR teamed with its
official technology partner CDW to migrate its proprietary servers
to Red Hat Enterprise Linux for enhanced reliability, stability and
performance for its strategic digital media assets management
system.The PGA TOUR is a nonprofit association for professional
golfers. It stages tournaments, disseminates player statistics and
scores and supplies media outlets with content for entertainment
and promotional purposes. In the mid-2000s, 90 percent of the PGA
TOUR’s business-critical systems ran on proprietary servers.
Looking for a more reliable and higher-performance operating
platform to scale its datacenter infrastructure and legacy
applications, including IBM Lotus Notes, it began migrating its
systems to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
