“Gateway…announced its first server appliance designed to
simplify set-up, operation and administration of standards-based
tasks such as Internet services, email and file sharing
applications. Gateway’s initial server appliance, the
Gateway(TM) Micro Server, is a Linux-based, low maintenance
solution that can be up and running in as little as 30
minutes.

“Gateway’s turnkey server appliances are ideal for organizations
that don’t have the resources typically needed to deploy, install,
maintain and administer servers. In addition, with prices starting
at $1,299, the Gateway Micro Server can open shared computing to a
broader range of business and education customers for increasingly
important business applications such as shared Internet services
and electronic mail.”

“Our business, education and government clients are continually
looking for ways to cost-effectively enhance their technology
resources,” said Chris Norman, director, server product marketing,
Gateway Business. “Server appliances, such as the Gateway Micro
Server certainly meet this challenge today, while providing
tremendous opportunities to add increased value through services
that give customers turnkey solutions to leverage the Internet for
their organizations.”
