“Peregrine Systems(R), Inc…the leading provider of
Infrastructure Management software for the Infrastructure Resource
Planning marketplace, today announced it will offer Linux support
for several of its product suites. Beginning with Peregrine
Systems ServiceCenter(TM) and AssetCenter(TM) products, the move
will allow Linux users to deploy the first end-to-end solution for
managing the life cycle of all an organization’s assets from the
moment they are procured until they are retired.
To ensure a
seamless Linux integration, Peregrine Systems will work with Red
Hat, Inc. of Durham, NC, a leading provider of open source products
and solutions. Peregrine Systems is making the commitment in order
to allow Linux users to maintain IT assets at the highest
availability with the lowest system cost to gain a competitive edge
in today’s marketplace.”

“The past year has seen a remarkable jump in the Linux presence,
especially as an effective operating system in conjunction with the
Internet,” said Bill Keyworth, Peregrine Systems vice president,
product marketing. “It was a natural fit for Peregrine Systems to
offer support for Linux and to offer Linux users the option of
implementing a complete solution for their IT assets, rather than
trying to fill the gaps left by point solutions.”

“With the addition of Linux, Peregrine Systems now offers
support for every major server platform used by an organization
including the mainframe, HP/UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX and Windows
NT. The integrated product suite from Peregrine Systems provides a
unified view of an organization’s assets and provides functionality
such as procurement, problem management, change management, lease
management, service level agreement management, asset management
and cost management. Peregrine Systems is the first to offer this
comprehensive Infrastructure Management solution.”
