“Rackspace, a leading provider of Linux-based managed Internet
hosting services, today announced the opening of its data center in
London. Additionally, Rackspace named Chris Blumentritt to direct
the new facility. The company also announced a relationship with
AboveNet Communications to provide AboveNet’s customers who may
need hardware and support with Rackspace’s managed hosting
services.”

With approximately 45 percent of Rackspace’s business
derived from customers based outside the United States, the need
for a data center in Europe has become pressing as the company
seeks to accommodate customers in the United Kingdom and throughout
Europe.
The new data center is located in the Docklands area
of London.”

“We are experiencing great demand for managed hosting services,
and many of our customers outside the U.S. have requested we open a
data center in Europe,” said Graham Weston, chief executive officer
of Rackspace. “Having a presence in London represents a significant
opportunity for us.”
