“Unigraphics Solutions announces that its industry-leading
kernel solid modeling product, Parasolid, is now available on the
Linux operating system. The decision to support Linux demonstrates
Unigraphics Solutions’ continuing commitment to broaden the appeal
of Parasolid’s interoperable Data Pipeline as an industry standard
for data sharing. Parasolid is licensed by a majority of the
leading mainstream CAD/CAM/CAE vendors and will support the Linux
version offered by Red Hat Software Inc.”

In response to the growing interest in the Linux operating
system, Parasolid has been working closely with a number of
customers who are preparing to release their ‘Parasolid Powered’
products on Linux
,” says Don Vossler, director of Business
Development for Parasolid. “We are quickly approaching 500,000 end
user seats on the Parasolid Data Pipeline. The support of Parasolid
on Linux opens the benefits of interoperability to the Linux
community.”

“Many Parasolid customers who are leaders in their fields will
be supporting their products on Linux. MSC.Software, for example,
has demonstrated a commitment to Linux with recent initiatives
including a new company division — MSC.Linux, dedicated to the
support of Linux products and services. “MSC.Software is engaged in
expanding its current line of Linux-compatible solutions as part of
an on-going drive to serve emerging markets,” says Gregory Sikes,
general manager, MSC.Linux Division. “Given the rapid adoption of
the Linux platform by so many industries, our customers will
certainly benefit from the decision by Unigraphics Solutions to
offer a Linux version of the Parasolid kernel.”
