“Not too long after the Jabber project’s first public release in
2000, a group of open source developers went to work producing a
client for Jabber users that would provide basic connectivity and
also work with the Jabber protocol’s transports.

“This week, after seven years of development and a number of
releases, the Psi project announced a new release candidate for its
Jabber client, a rare mix of robust support for XMPP and
cross-platform compatibility. Psi is Free Software, licensed under
the GNU GPL, which makes its source code available to
anyone…”
