San Jose Mercury News: Unix gaining in NT rivalry

The preferred operating system for powerful server computers,
once thought to be on its way to extinction, appears to be back in
the spotlight, as its promising rival, Microsoft Corp.’s Windows
NT, suffers from growing pains.

As the operating system of choice for Internet service
providers, electronic commerce sites and corporations’ data
repositories, Unix’s prospects are flourishing and battle lines for
the market are being drawn at a furious pace.
