SCALE UPDATE: SCALE moves to larger venue starting in
2011

LOS ANGELES – In order to accommodate its steady growth over the
past few years, the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) will
move to its new home, the Hilton Los Angeles Airport, starting with
SCALE 9X in 2011.

The new venue – larger than SCALE’s former home for the last
four years at the Westin Los Angeles Airport – will allow SCALE to
expand its offerings at SCALE 9X, slated for Feb. 18-20, 2011.

“We are excited about our new home at the Hilton Los Angeles
Airport hotel, and the opportunities it allows us to pursue,” said
SCALE chairman Ilan Rabinovitch. “The larger venue will allow SCALE
to provide more co-hosted community events and conference
activities over the next few years.”

In addition to the larger floor space for the expo, the Hilton
has larger speaker rooms to allow more participants per specialty
conference track. The Hilton also has more rooms than the Westin,
so SCALE’s new home can more easily accommodate out-of-town
attendees spending the weekend at the expo.

While the event is moving to a nearby facility, Rabinovitch said
that he and the SCALE staff are grateful for the hospitality and
services the Westin provided over the years.

“The toughest part about leaving the Westin was the
relationships we had built with the people there. The Westin had
become like a second home, and their staff were true partners in
making SCALE a success,” Rabinovitch said. “The move to the Hilton
was entirely based on cost and space availability.”
