“What do you expect of Linux’s future in embedded computing?

“Bird:
People will be surprised two or three years from now by how rapidly
Linux penetrated the embedded marketplace. People who are not that
familiar with Linux see it as a desktop phenomenon. We’re seeing a
really good match between Linux and the embedded space. There’s a
whole lot of different reasons customers might come to Linux. Open
source is one of the big ones. There are a lot of different
vendors, and there are a lot of different options for customers.
The technology is very robust.”
