“While there are quite a few services that offer free
blog hosting, there are situations when you’d want to run a
blog on your own server. This approach has its advantages, but
setting up a server and then installing and configuring a blog
system can be a daunting proposition – unless you choose to
use Tonido, that is. This solution offers everything you need in
one neat , easy-to-install package.

“Tonido software is available as binary packages for many
popular Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Fedora ,and
openSUSE. To install Tonido on Ubuntu, download the .deb package
and double-click on it. Use then the GDebi tool to install Tonido
on your machine. To launch Tonido, choose Applications — Internet
— Tonido. Once Tonido is up and running, you can access it by
pointing your browser to http://127.0.0.1:10001/. On the first run,
you have to create a Tonido account, which takes just a few
minutes. By default, Tonido cannot be accessed from the Web, so
your blog (as well as other Tonido applications) remain private.
But if you wish to publish your blog on the Web, you can do so by
tweaking Tonido’s Web access settings. First, switch to the
Advanced View interface, navigate to Settings — Network, and press
on the Run Web Access Setup Wizard link. This starts a wizard that
guides you through the process of configuring the Web access. Once
you’re done, click on the Blog link in the Dashboard to open
the Thots blog.”
