ShowMeLinux.com: Intalling Licq

[ Thanks to Russell Sprouts for this
link. ]

This month we’re going to make our on-lives a little more
social. We’re going to install a program called Licq, a clone of
the popular ICQ program.
Unlike the previous articles,
this time we’re going to look at installing it from source
code
since that is how you will obtain most Linux programs
from the Internet. Don’t run off now. The task is not as scary as
it may seem, it just takes a little longer.”

“We will start by downloading the necessary file from the Licq
homepage, http://www.licq.org. The site is laid out clearly, makes
that easy. Right off the front you’ll see a panel of buttons along
the left hand side, one of those saying Download. We want the
program as stable as possible, so we’ll grab the latest stable
release, 0.85. Click on the link and download the file to your
directory of choice. In my case, it’s going right into my home
directory.”
