Only a week after Transmeta co-founder Dave Ditzel told Reuters
that the firm’s second-quarter revenue would be the same or
slightly exceed revenue in the first quarter, Transmeta shocked
industry analysts today by announcing that second-quarter revenues
would be down 45 percent. The firm employs Linux luminary Linus
Torvalds and powers Linux-based servers from RLX Technologies, as
well as being responsible for Midori Linux, a distribution meant
for Transmeta Crusoe-based devices. From SiliconValley.com:

“After the market closed, Transmeta said it now expects revenue
for the quarter ending June 30 will be 40 percent to 45 percent
below first-quarter revenue of $18.6 million. Analysts had been
expecting revenue to be about the same or slightly higher than the
prior quarter.”

‘They are getting hit more in this downturn than the PC is,’
said Eric Ross, an analyst at Thomas Weisel Partners who follows
Transmeta’s bigger competitors, Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.
‘No one in the PC industry has had a 45 percent drop in
revenue.’
