“New Internet Computer (NIC) Monday says it will work
with a Southern California ISP to give older Americans a cheap way
to get on the Net.The San Francisco-based pet project of Oracle CEO Larry Ellison
says Senior Explorer will use NIC as its preferred device for
Internet connectivity. The ISP specializes in serving customers
aged 50 and older.As part of the agreement, Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Senior
Explorer will offer the NIC as part of a complete Internet solution
for seniors. For only $29.99 a month (for 36 months) customers get
an unlimited connection to the Internet and an easy to use NIC
loaded with pre-selected software. The dumbed-down units usually
retail for $199.99 without a monitor.”
