In an open letter published on Slashdot, The Bazaar organizer
Steve Blood tells his woes and the current state of things.
The Bazaar committed to have a Linux conference at New York City
Javitts Center in March and then along came deep-pockets IDG with
the same idea for Silicon Valley and a week earlier.
Now The Bazaar could only get a few exhibitors–not enough to
pay the bills.
This writing is must reading for everyone who cares about Linux
and the open-source community. It gives much perspective and food
for thought into the open-source community’s current dynamics as
big money becomes involved.
