“The Linux community best is impressive. This version of Linux
supports a far wider variety of equipment, from processors to
joysticks to TV tuners than it had heretofore. Existing support for
other equipment, such as non-ATAPI CD-ROMs, has also improved. In
particular, audio support, long a sore point for those who wished
for multimedia Linux, has been improved.”

“Users who want to get their hands dirty with the source code
can do so already. The linux-2.2.0-pre9 version is the final code.
While there may be a minor fix or two in the next few days, the
official 2.2.0-final version should be out Monday.”
