“Alpha Processor Inc. (API) will take aim at Intel’s Xeon
processor… when it introduces “Slot B” technology, which brings
x86-style modularity to Alpha-based system design. The Slot B
design, coupled with the 750MHz Alpha 21264 processor, could make
it easier for VARs to build and sell enterprise-class Alpha servers
and workstations.
“According to API, the Slob B design lowers production costs and
inventory requirements for resellers and OEMs. It will be
incorporated into API’s new UP2000 motherboards, which also will be
announced at the show.
“API has several other surprises in store for PC Expo.”
