“IBM-Caldera development, education, support programs are
aimed to please the Fortune 500.

On the face of it, Caldera Systems Inc.’s PC Expo agreement with
IBM looks like just another ‘major vendor solidifies Linux support’
story. Think again.

This new deal adds the kind of infrastructure to Caldera’s
OpenLinux that IBM and Caldera hope will move Linux from being a
viable choice for small- to medium-sized businesses, to one that
will also be welcome by Fortune 500 IT departments.”

“While the phrase ‘no one ever got fired for buying IBM’ isn’t a
truism anymore, the IBM brand still carries tremendous clout. And
both Caldera and IBM are serious about resellers, increasing the
likelihood that their joint efforts will be far stronger than any
other Linux reseller efforts to date.”
