“Underscoring its prominence in Japan, Pacific HiTech recently
inked a deal with Compaq Japan and Oracle Corp. to bundle and sell
mid-range Linux servers with the Oracle 8 database, beginning
sometime in March.

“But setting up shop in the entrenched U.S. market is an
entirely different ball of wax. Red Hat, for instance, signed a
similar deal with Compaq to bundle Linux in the U.S.”
